Shaw Interest, Kluivert Open, and Perfect for Giroud
Reports suggest that Chelsea are monitoring Luke Shaw’s contract situation at Manchester United, ahead of a potential move. United manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that Shaw is in line for a new deal, but is yet to be offered one by the club, and Chelsea are on standby if negotiations stall. The 22-year-old’s deal at Old Trafford runs until 2019, and his potential availability has alerted Antonio Conte’s side. Fellow Premier League side Arsenal are also said to be monitoring Shaw, with doubts over his long-term future in Manchester lingering.
Ajax winger has said he would be open to a move to the Premier League in the future, and says Chelsea are one of four English sides he could play for in the future.
“England appeals to me,
“Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea or Manchester United are nice clubs where I can see myself playing in a few years.
“If you get a nice offer, you never know.”
The youngster has been highly impressive in the Eredivisie this season, and has gained a lot of admirers for his style of play.
Perfect for Giroud
January signing Olivier Giroud has said that his decision to swap Arsenal for Chelsea was “perfect” and that he “needed a new challenge.” Giroud signed for the Blues on Deadline Day, as he searched for first-team football following the arrival of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates.
“It’s been a while since I played regularly and that’s why I needed to move. I needed a new challenge and Chelsea was the perfect club for me.
“It’s the Premier League, a club which has won more titles in the past ten years than any other. It’s a massive club and I am very proud to be here and to carry on my career in the Premier League.
“I had five amazing years there, but now it’s a new chapter of my career and I am focused 100 per cent on the Blues to reach our targets. I’m very happy to be here.”
