Sky reporter expects Chelsea bid for free-kick specialist, has same agents as Tuchel

Chelsea will be handed an interesting advantage over their rivals in the pursuit of top transfer target David Alaba this summer.

On the Sky Sports Transfer Show, Kaveh Solheko sprung the surprising news that could be crucial for Chelsea in capturing the 28-year-old free-kick specialist.

He said: “When it comes for centre-backs, I think they will be in for David Alaba.

“It would be a no brainer for Chelsea to try get him (Alaba) especially because some of the agents involved in bringing (Thomas) Tuchel to Chelsea are also involved with David Alaba.”

Thomas Tuchel was announced as the new Blues boss late on Tuesday after taking over the reins from Frank Lampard.

Despite only being in charge for a matter of days, attentions have already turned to who which signings Tuchel would be luring to Stamford Bridge.

Alaba has been the centre of attention since it was announced he would not be renewing his contract at Bayern Munich. He becomes a free agent at the end of this season and this is when clubs will try to pounce.

The Sun suggested that Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool were all interested suitors alongside Chelsea.

However, Tuchel will undoubtedly be intrigued by the ever developing situation concerning Alaba’s future and may make him a priority acquisition when he becomes available (Goal).

Chelsea have been in the hunt for more security in central defence, with Thiago Silva’s career coming to a close and Fikayo Tomori currently on loan at AC Milan.

Having won countless titles in Germany and two Champions Leagues with Bayern, Alaba is certainly among the elite category of players in that position.

And there’s a sense that Tuchel’s German connection could be a deciding factor in persuading the Austrian to come to London.

Tuchel has already been issued the job of improving two former Bundesliga stars in Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. Chelsea fans will hope Alaba can follow in their footsteps.

Take whatever advantage you can to get Alaba. Whether it’s a shared agent or shared cousin in law twice removed, milk it at all costs.

I think he would be great addition to the Blues considering what we already have in that department.
