Sky Sports have named Willian as Chelsea’s most valuable player for the 2019/20 season — and some Blues fans on Twitter have not hidden their disappointment in the media outlet’s choice.
On Sunday, Sky Sports have released their list of each Premier League club’s MVP for the season.
And for Chelsea, they have picked Willian.

Sky Sports pointed out that Willian has been Lampard’s primary creative outlet, having the highest number of chance created (51) and assists (five) among the Chelsea players.
The 31-year-old has also ranked in the top threes for dribbles and shots despite starting in just 21 of 29 Premier League games Chelsea played.
In terms of goals, Willian has netted seven times in all competitions (five in the league) including one goal in each of Chelsea’s last two games against Liverpool in the FA Cup and Everton in the Premier League.
Some of the Chelsea fans on Twitter, however, felt that Mateo Kovacic should have been picked instead.
Previously, Sky Sports also started a poll for the Fans’ Player of the Year wherein the Croatia international also won the fans vote despite not being listed in the options.
In comparison to Willian, Kovacic has started in fewer league games (18) in which he has had just one goal and three assists.
But Kovacic has been Chelsea’s best dribbler, completing an average of 2.8 take-ons per game (ranked seventh in the Premier League).
Here are some comments from the Chelsea fans on Twitter:
I'd say Kovacic has been our MVP this season.

I love Willian, but even I'm sure he'd say Kovacic. #CFC
