Southampton have confirmed that Kyle Walker-Peters will miss this weekend’s fixture against Chelsea in the Premier League – and some of their fans on Twitter are extremely upset with the news.

The Blues travel to St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon to face Southampton in a league game.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed on Thursday (official website) that Walker-Peters is due to miss a few weeks through injury.

The 23-year-old defender was injured in his team’s weekend defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, which was just his second game back from a thigh problem.

He is an attack-minded right-back that has been an ever-present for the Saints since he joined.

The English full-back joined them from Tottenham on an initial loan deal, which eventually become a permanent one worth £12million (Daily Mail).

With Walker-Peters unavailable this weekend, Chelsea will certainly be looking to exploit that area of the pitch.

There may be an obvious area that Chelsea now look to target, as the left-sided pairing of Marcos Alonso and Timo Werner have both looked extremely effective since manager Thomas Tuchel took charge at Stamford Bridge last month.
