'The kids back': Some Chelsea fans buzzing to see 21-year-old talent return after injury

Chelsea fans were delighted to see Dujon Sterling back in action again for Chelsea after a lengthy spell out on the side-lines.

The 21-year-old posted an emotional message on his Twitter after managed 90 mins for just the second time this season with the Under-23s.

Sterling had been out for almost a year before he stepped foot on the pitch against Arsenal earlier this month.

He is another young talent treasured by the Chelsea community and they let their feelings known in response to his heartfelt post.

His story is almost a carbon copy of so many that have ventured before him. Sterling succeeded in the Blues academy and was part of numerous trophy triumphs.

Antonio Conte handed the versatile defender his senior Chelsea debut in 2017 during an FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

Before he could build up a full head of steam, Sterling was shipped out on loan to gain experience.

Coventry City initially took him under their wing for the 2018/19 campaign. He played 40 times in what was a very respectable transition between the Blues and Sky Blues.

Wigan Athletic then wanted his services as a replacement for fellow Chelsea star, Reece James, who was returning to Stamford Bridge after a terrific loan spell with the Latics.

Sterling started life well with the Championship club but was struck by a torn hamstring that ruled him significantly.

It’s been a long and painful journey. However, Sterling looks almost back to his shiny best.
