Christopher Nkunku has been impressing everyone during his first pre-season as a Chelsea player.

That is according to The Times.

They claim that there’s been ‘glowing reports’ from within Chelsea’s camp about the way Christopher Nkunku, 25, has performed in training sessions.

If Nkunku has caught the eye behind the scenes in training, he’s certainly replicated that in the club’s friendly games so far.

The French attacker has already scored in pre-season matches against Wrexham and Brighton, so there’s now a buzz within the fanbase about the new recruit.

Signed for £52million (Sky Sports) from RB Leipzig this summer, Nkunku’s aim will be to add some much-needed firepower to the forward line at Stamford Bridge.

It’s been interesting already to notice the speedster can play as either a No 9 or No 10. It’s up to Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino to make a decision on where he best fits into the line-up.

Nkunku scored 23 goals and made nine assists across all competitions last season for Leipzig, which puts any player in the Chelsea squad to shame.

Of course, he’s someone unproven when it comes to Premier League football. We’re confident this is a quality attacker with the technique and potential to do well in England, though.

Speaking to ESPN last month, Frank Leboeuf has described Nkunku as a “great signing” for Chelsea this summer.

It certainly sounds like he’s raring to go ahead of the new 2023/24 season and a fast start would go a long way to helping him settle in London.
