Ferdinand makes Chelsea prediction amid heated top four race

Former Manchester United stars Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves have made their predictions about the Premier League top four race.

As things stand, Chelsea are sitting at third, ahead of both Leicester City and Manchester United although with just a one-point cushion.

The Blues will still have to visit Anfield to face this season’s champions Liverpool and then host Wolverhampton at Stamford Bridge in the last fixture of the season.

Ferdinand believes Chelsea will get the job done against Wolves, but will certainly have to fight in their last two games.

He told BT Sport (as quoted by Manchester Evening News): “I looked at it first and thought, with Liverpool and Wolves as Chelsea’s games, they’re going to struggle.

“I think Chelsea will beat Wolves on the last game of the season, with something to play for. West Ham will do Manchester United a favour.”

Ferdinand believes that Manchester United will win their remaining two games and qualify for the Champions League, considering their “scintillating” performances lately.

“I think United will beat West Ham and I think they’ll finish the job against Leicester,” he said.

“Chelsea have got tough fixtures but with United and Leicester playing each other on the last day, they’re going to get in.

“I think Chelsea and United will just get over the line.”

Manchester United and Leicester City will battle against each other in the last fixture and depending on the result, it could work in Chelsea’s favour.
