Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva has sent a heartfelt message to Frank Lampard after the club announced the manager’s departure.
The 36-year-old was one of the first names on Lampard’s team-sheets, making 14 league appearances already since his arrival.
Lampard saw the defender as one of his leaders on the pitch, giving him the armband multiple times already this season.
Once again, Silva has shown why he is a leader on and off the pitch, as he is the first Chelsea player to come out and make a public statement as Lampard leaves the club.
“I would like to thank you for everything you and your committee have done for me since the day I arrived,” the Brazil international wrote on Twitter.
“As I told you, it seemed like we had been working together for 10 years!
“Thank you very much for everything legend.”
Recent reports, including from Sky Germany (via Sky Sports), suggest Thomas Tuchel is set to succeed Lampard at Stamford Bridge.
Silva obviously has a close relationship with the German coach due to his time at Paris Saint-Germain.
