Thiago Silva has told the Chelsea fans to believe that this year is going to be “very special” as he spoke about his desire to win with the Blues.
The 36-year-old has yet to make his debut for Chelsea but the time could be very close since he has had almost a week of training with new teammates.
Having been captain at AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Brazil national team, the centre-back is expected to become an influential leader figure for the relatively young Frank Lampard’s squad.
It looks like the one thing he certainly would bring to the dressing room is a winning mentality.
In his first interview for the club, Silva told Chelsea’s official website: “My aim is to win. As I said before, it’s a young team and we’re aiming to win as many games as possible.
“We know that the opposition will never make life easy for us and will have prepared to win the game but I will work as hard as I can from the very start.
“Being at a big club, winning trophies, that’s what drives me on.”
Every player wants to win when he arrives at a new club, particularly at the Chelsea level, but interestingly, Silva is determined to bring immediate success to the club.
“I’m arriving 100 per cent motivated for this new project,” he said when asked to send a message to Chelsea fans.
“I’m not just here for the experience, I’m here to win.
“I hope that they believe, just as we do, that this is going to be a very special year and one full of success for the club.”
