Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has been full of praise for Reece James and the impressive form he has been in this season.

If the Chelsea player of the season award were to be announced today, James would probably win it.

That is how good the 21-year-old has been for the Blues, especially in the last few months.

He just seems to have it all; from the technical ability to deliver pinpoint crosses, as well as being able to shoot “like a horse”, as Tuchel previously put it, to the defensive quality of a proper full-back.

Tuchel is clearly impressed by James’ performance, as he highlighted the defender’s physical prowess, in particular.

“It was a very, very good overall game against Juventus — no denying [that],” the German told Chelsea TV about James’ latest display.

“It was from the first to the last minute. Very impressive, with self-confidence, the quality, and the physical strength he imposed on the opponents.

“He’s in a very good moment, I hope he can keep his feet on the ground like he always does.

“He’s very, very strong and influential on the game — very decisive.

“Things seem to fall into place for him pretty easily, but there are hard work and a lot of effort behind it, and we will do everything to keep him on track.”

To be fair, James himself is clearly aware of how strong he is.

As Christian Pulisic perfectly summed it up in a recent interview, “the sky is the limit” for the England international.
