Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has given huge credit to the midfield trio of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
Jorginho, who won Euro 2020 in the summer with Italy, has enjoyed a real purple patch in recent months. The 29-year-old defensive midfielder is an expert in dictating possession, something he does so well for both Chelsea and Italy.
Kante, 30, is equally a monster in the France midfield. He’s an all-action midfielder that is renowned for covering every blade of grass on the pitch. It must be stressed how good he was during Chelsea’s journey to winning the Champions League last season.
In addition, Blues central midfielder Kovacic is another to get applause from his club manager. The 27-year-old is an expert dribbler that can be a driving force at Stamford Bridge when he’s on his A-game.
Tuchel said when discussing the praise Jorginho has received recently:
“Absolutely, and it’s good that they talk about our players first of all, and that it shifts a little bit and the guys like Jorgi and like N’Golo Kante are in the spotlight, because they are so, so useful and so, so helpful for any team in the world. And we are so lucky to have them.
“Mateo Kovacic is another of that kind, he has the same mentality, the same ability, so we are absolutely happy to have these three midfielders. They’re such a big help to any team in the world. Their approach to football is they’re true team players. They are true helpers. They make things easy for the others, they don’t hide from a lot of work, putting in a lot of effort for others.”
Midfield trio can rotate so effectively for Chelsea boss Tuchel
There are games Chelsea can use Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic together. However, the fact Tuchel can rotate between two of the three is such a luxury to have.
It’s a relatively young squad right now at Stamford Bridge, so they are three of the individuals that set the tone.
They each bring a different quality you could want from a midfielder, so it’s no surprise to hear Tuchel loves them.
It’s true they all work their socks off.
