Timo Werner expressed his delight on social media after he marked his first game in a Chelsea shirt with a goal, albeit in a pre-season fixture against Brighton.
Frank Lampard’s side recorded a 1-1 away draw against Brighton in a friendly match and it was the new Blues striker who left his mark on the contest with a debut goal.
The German centre-forward netted inside the opening four minutes by firing the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs inside the penalty box and he showed some great movement while on the pitch.

Brighton did equalise from the penalty spot late in the second-half and Chelsea begin the new 2020/21 Premier League season away to them on 14 September.
Werner has arrived at Stamford Bridge with big pressure on his shoulders to be the club’s leading marksman in attack and an early goal to lift confidence should be a big help.
The 24-year-old a speedster that has proven himself in the German Bundesliga in recent years, especially last season where he ended up with 28 goals in just 34 league games for RB Leipzig.

He finished the campaign with 34 goals and 13 assists across all competitions for Leipzig, which is why Blues supporters are excited to see him hit the ground running and be a prolific goalscorer for them.
Werner posted on Instagram after his goal against Brighton, which also promoted a congratulations in response from teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi.
