Timo Werner posted a message on Instagram after goal in Chelsea pre-season game

Timo Werner expressed his delight on social media after he marked his first game in a Chelsea shirt with a goal, albeit in a pre-season fixture against Brighton.

Frank Lampard’s side recorded a 1-1 away draw against Brighton in a friendly match and it was the new Blues striker who left his mark on the contest with a debut goal.

The German centre-forward netted inside the opening four minutes by firing the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs inside the penalty box and he showed some great movement while on the pitch.

Werner has arrived at Stamford Bridge with big pressure on his shoulders to be the club’s leading marksman in attack and an early goal to lift confidence should be a big help.

He finished the campaign with 34 goals and 13 assists across all competitions for Leipzig, which is why Blues supporters are excited to see him hit the ground running and be a prolific goalscorer for them.

Werner posted on Instagram after his goal against Brighton, which also promoted a congratulations in response from teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi.
