Tony Cascarino has predicted that Christian Pulisic will come good in a Chelsea shirt and improve after a mixed start to life at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues splashed out £58million (BBC) in the summer to sign the USA international from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
He played 127 senior games for the German club and is a highly-rated talent that was expected to hit the ground running for Frank Lampard’s team.
The 21-year-old hasn’t quite made the ideal start in West London and currently finds himself out of the club’s best XI.
The skilful right-winger has managed four assists in eight appearances across all competitions so far to highlight his attacking threat, but there is no doubt his finishing and composure has to improve.
Ex-Blues forward Cascarino is confident that there is still plenty more to come from Pulisic and is backing him to be a success.
“Christian Pulisic has found chances to impress few and far between since arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer but I believe he will be a success,” Cascarino wrote in the Times.
“Some players are slow burners who need time to gradually ease their way into the team.”
Pulisic definitely has the potential to be an important player for Chelsea moving forward, but at times he’s looked out of his depth and needs time to adjust to his new surroundings in England.
He has a sizeable task breaking into the side and it looks like Willian will be his main rival, as Callum Hudson-Odoi should be locking the left flank down.
But the last couple of games has seen him make bright cameos and he needs to take every chance he gets.
Chelsea play away to Ajax on Wednesday night in the Champions League group stages and it would be brilliant to see him promoted to the XI to try prove a point.
