Chelsea have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech.
The Blues announced on their official website on Thursday afternoon that they have agreed a deal to bring the 26-year-old to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
A move is going to be subject to the Morocco international agreeing personal terms and he will remain with Dutch side Ajax for the remainder of this campaign.
Frank Lampard’s side have managed to land the attacking midfielder for a bargain £33.3million (Ajax’s official website) and he’s an exciting addition to the squad for next season.
The left-footed creator has 21 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this season, as well as eight goals too.
Pundit Tony Cascarino was discussing Ziyech on Thursday morning just prior to the official announcement and gave a glowing verdict on him.
He’s confident that he could be a serious addition for Chelsea and made a comparison to Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
“He’s got everything. He’s a great set-piece taker, he’s a bit like [Riyad] Mahrez. He can dribble, he can go at you and go past you. Fantastic assist record. Hell of a talent. I think will be a fantastic addition to Chelsea,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
Chelsea fans were left majorly disappointed by no new signings in the summer, but to confirm Ziyech in February will give everyone a considerable lift and they can watch him dazzle for Ajax for the rest of the season.
He’s a major goal threat that can play on the right flank or in a more central attacking position and is going to inject some extra quality to Lampard’s side.
