Trevoh Chalobah delivered a kind message of support to David Brooks after the Bournemouth man revealed his Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis.
Brooks posted an honest and heartfelt statement to his social media yesterday, explaining his unfortunate personal situation.
The football community all came together to send their best wishes to the Wales international.
Chalobah, along with so many others, responded to Brooks’ announcement with love and encouragement.
Brooks withdrew from the latest Wales squad due to illness, with the meaning behind the omission now clear.
The 24-year-old disclosed his treatment will begin next week.
Thankfully, he said the prognosis had been ‘a positive one’ and that he remained confident of making a full recovery.
Brooks’ Bournemouth career
A player of such undoubted quality, his journey in the sport does not deserve to be cut short.
He was signed by Bournemouth back in 2018, leaving Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.
Down by the coast, the glossy attacker quickly started making waves at this new club.
In his first season, Brooks scored seven goals and provided five assists in 33 appearances for the Cherries.
Unfortunately for the winger hailing from Warrington, surgery on his ankle meant he missed almost the entirety of 2019/20.
The same issue continued to reoccur in the following term, but Brooks still managed to reach double figures for goals and assists.
We all wish David the very best with his recovery and we hope to see him back on the pitch again soon.
Our thoughts also go out to his friends and family.
