Thomas Tuchel has said that Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez is a “very strong” finisher, despite the fact he’s not scored yet this season.

Saul, 27, is a central midfielder who moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid.

Unfortunately, the Spaniard has found it difficult in the opening few months breaking into the Blues XI.

The left-footed midfielder has made six Chelsea appearances to date and started half of the games.

Tuchel reckons that fringe player Saul is handy in front of goal, though.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Chelsea have remarkably had 17 different scorers across all competitions this season, but the Blues loanee isn’t one of them.

“It teaches us a lesson that everybody needs individual time to adapt and since many days he is stronger, I feel him a bit more relaxed and at the same time that gives him a little bit more freedom to impose his quality. He’s very strong in finishing, in arriving in the box,” Tuchel said about Saul.

Tuchel previously spoke highly of him back in October, too.

Saul to get rare Chelsea opportunity?

Chelsea travel to Watford on Wednesday night in the Premier League with an injury-hit squad.

Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante are both confirmed injury absentees against Watford. In addition, a last-minute check will need to be done on Jorginho for tonight’s match

If the aforementioned trio are absent, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Saul could make sense as a midfield pivot in front of the back-three. Ross Barkley is perhaps someone that could slot in the centre of the park if needed.

Some Chelsea fans may be surprised to hear Saul is a great finisher, but they are going off a very small sample size during his time in England. He’s scored 43 goals in an Atletico shirt and can be a real asset at Stamford Bridge if he can recapture his best form.
