Tuchel names 18-year-old Chelsea prospect on bench vs Crystal Palace, only his second ever time in a PL squad
Chelsea prospect Harvey Vale has been named in today’s match-day against Crystal Palace, which is only the second time in his career he’s been involved with the first-team group for a Premier League fixture.
Vale, 18, has been put on the bench for Saturday’s trip to London rivals Palace.
The Blues have confirmed their official starting line-up on Twitter for the weekend’s derby clash.
Vale, who’s played three first-team games for Chelsea, is an exciting talent coming through the academy at Cobham.
The left-footed attacker has played a few times now this season in domestic cup competitions, along with plenty of appearances at Under-23s level.
For him, he’d surely love a Premier League debut today.
He was involved in the match-day squad when Chelsea played Liverpool on 2 January, but didn’t get any minutes and remained an unused substitute.
It’s more significant progress for the teenager that he’s involved once again within Tuchel’s group, though.
Another Chelsea rising star
Vale’s yet another youngster for Blues supporters to get excited about.
He’s a creative playmaker who possesses great close control and intelligence in the final third. In addition, Tuchel must love the fact he’s got the versatility to play in several positions, including at wing-back.
It’s a bench this afternoon against Palace stacked with a lot of ability, so fans may wait a while until he makes his Premier League bow.
He’s in with a shot, though.
