Two Chelsea players named in European best U21 XI of 2019/20

Driblab, a consultancy specialized in the statistical analysis of players and teams with a database of more than 130,000 players and 120 competitions from across the world, have picked a team consisting of European best young talents from each position.

As published on Marca, Chelsea’s Reece James and Christian Pulisic have been picked alongside nine other big names.

The two Chelsea players are two of only three Premier League players on the list. The other player is Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale who fills the goalkeeper spot.

Interestingly, James has been chosen for a right-sided centre-back role in a back three, a position he has never played under Frank Lampard this season.

Meanwhile, having been struggling with injuries this season, Pulisic has bagged six goals and three assists in all competition for Chelsea so far.

Bundesliga talents dominate the list with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Achraf Hakimi (on loan from Real Madrid), Dan-Axel Zagadou, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano making five of eleven players on the list.

Two Real Madrid players Federico Valverde and Martin Odegaard (on loan at Real Sociedad) fill the midfield spots.

While the biggest name on the list, Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, leads the line up front.
