Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo admitted to Star Sports Football that Christian Pulisic from Chelsea was the toughest Premier League winger he’d faced to date.

City’s terrific full-back explained that Pulisic had caused him the most problems during his first two seasons in England.

He said: “I usually chat with my colleagues about it.

“It might sound strange but the most difficult winger I have faced in the Premier League is Pulisic from Chelsea.

“He is very skillful and a fast player with the ball. He can dribble quickly.

“So for me, he is the most difficult winger I have played.

Cancelo is arguably the best right back in the division currently, so to dish out compliments like that should not be taken lightly.

There is perhaps even more poignancy in the Portuguese’s statement as the last time they played each other, City won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Pulisic could do with these kind words following a tough personal week.

He failed to start another game for Thomas Tuchel in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Everton on Monday.

Then a report from the Daily Mail surfaced suggesting rival clubs were monitoring his movements in case he wanted to leave London.

This was followed up by another Daily Mail story stating that the Blues had already lined up Bayern Munch’s Kingsley Coman as a possible replacement for Pulisic.

Nothing has yet come out of the American’s camp, with focus turning to Chelsea’s away fixture against Leeds United this Saturday.

If Cancelo speaks, you listen.

I’d happily go along with him being the league’s finest fullback, and I think Pulisic needs to take any positives he can right now.

If he does see the video, maybe it will give him the best he needs to overcome this sticky spell.
