Chelsea stars Mason Mount and Romelu Lukaku poked some fun at each other during shooting drills in training — and the former apparently had the last laugh.
Several Chelsea players, including the aforementioned pair, Hakim Ziyech Reece James, and Trevoh Chalobah were filmed practising their finishing in Wednesday’s training.
Lukaku seemed to be unsurprisingly confident about his ability to find the back of the net.
“The day you score like me will come,” he boasted to the rest of the group after striking the ball past fellow summer signing Marcus Bettinelli.
His second attempt, however, slightly missed its target and only hit the crossbar.
The Belgium international was very supportive of the group, until it was Mount’s turn.
“Give him an easy ball,” he shouted. “Show me what you’ve got!”
Mount responded with a big smile after effortlessly striking the ball past Bettinelli: “Where’s the noise now?”
To be fair, Lukaku would not be surprised, having previously described Mount and Kai Havertz as “very talented” players after last weekend’s win over Arsenal.
Back in April last year, the striker also named Mount and Tammy Abraham, who has recently joined Roma, as his favourite Chelsea youngsters.
Fortunately for the Chelsea fans, these two are now teammates and, based on what we saw from the last game, formidable attacking partners as well.
Premier League icon Alan Shearer recently said that he expects Mount to “improve” even more by playing alongside a player of Lukaku’s calibre.
