Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu started for Wales in their draw against Slovakia on Thursday night – and some international fans on Twitter raved about the quality of his performance.

The 19-year-old has been loaned out by the Blues this season to German club RB Leipzig, but is expected to have a bright future at Stamford Bridge.

He started for Ryan Giggs’ Wales in the 1-1 draw away to Slovakia in a European Championship qualifier.

Wales took the lead in the first-half with a header from Wigan Athletic forward Kieffer Moore, but hosts Slovakia earned a point through Juraj Kucka’s second-half equaliser from the edge of the box.

Ampadu played 57 minutes before he was substituted off and delivered an impressive display in the centre of the park.

He is a versatile ace that can play as a defensive midfield or centre-back and he thrived in a midfield role next to Joe Allen.

The teenager made a stunning last-ditch block in the penalty area to deny a Robert Mak shot in the first-half and helped screen the back four.

Ampadu earned his 10th senior cap for Wales against Slovakia and is building his reputation, but needs to start making inroads at club level too.

He’s yet to feature in any senior games since he moved to Leipzig on loan in the summer and the Blues needs their rising star to be playing regularly, so looking into a loan move elsewhere could be a smart decision.
