The last ten years have been full of ups and downs for Chelsea. A Champions League win, at last, numerous Premier League titles, managers coming and going, and some brilliant players along the way. But who has been the club’s best signing of the decade?
The Blues have made countless moves in the last ten years, with varying success rates. The likes of Alvaro Morata and Fernando Torres will be seen as poor additions, whereas the likes of N’Golo Kante and Willian came in and have added real value to the Chelsea squad over the years.
Kante has been especially brilliant since joining the club. The French midfielder joined the club in 2016 and has been a hugely important part of the Chelsea side since. However, his relatively short spell with the club means he just misses out.
Another man who deserves a shout for the signing of the decade is Cesar Azpilicueta. The current Chelsea captain joined the club from Marseille in 2012 and has been an ever-present feature ever since. His versatility, in particular, is one of his biggest assets.
The Spaniard has played in every defensive position and has cemented his name in Chelsea’s history. He would be a shoo-in for the signing of the decade if it was not for one man.
Eden Hazard. Does anything more need to be said? 352 appearances, 110 goals, and countless magical moments. The Belgian mesmerised Chelsea fans for years and dragged the club to success at times. He could change any game in an instant and spent seven wonderful years with the club.
He will always be remembered as one of the greatest ever to grace the hallowed Stamford Bridge turf and is Chelsea’s best signing of the decade.
