There is increasing speculation over the possible lifting of Chelsea’s transfer ban, with potential new acquisitions being mentioned daily.
Well, known names like Milan Skriniar and Timo Werner are being floated, alongside some lesser-known players from around Europe. One of these is Fedor Chalov. Who is he, and would he be a good signing for the Blues?
CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov has netted five goals in 16 appearances for the Russian side this campaign and is gaining attention from around Europe. Sky Sports is reporting that Chelsea are interested if their transfer ban is overturned in December.
Owner Roman Abramovich is said to be a big fan of his national compatriot. He is just 21 and has already gained two caps for the Russian national side.
Standing at 5″9 inches, Chalov is seen as an all-rounder. As well as his goal-scoring exploits, he also provided seven assists for teammates last season and would certainly strengthen Chelsea’s attacking options.
The Blues would not be the first Premier League club to make a move for the Russian starlet. Crystal Palace had several bids rejected in the summer and is likely to be back in for him when January comes around.
Despite Tammy Abraham’s electric form, Lampard will be keen to strengthen in that area. The club is reportedly open to the exit of World Cup winner Olivier Giroud, and this would leave them relatively thin on the ground.
Chalov would not be the marquee signing that some Chelsea fans are hoping for, but his potential is undeniable.
However, it would take a sizeable bid to prize him from Moscow. He only recently signed a new contract running until 2022.
