Who is Petr Kellner, the man linked with a bid to take over from Roman Abramovich

Roman Abramovich is considering selling the club, according to some reports. A number of names are linked with a takeover bid, which would have to be around £3 billion.

The other man was Paul Allen, who died very recently of cancer. Allen was the owner of the NFL team, Seattle Seahawks, the basket ball team, the Portland Trail Blazers and the football team, the Seattle Sounders.

The richest man in the Czech Republic, Petr Kellner, is the latest name linked with a takeover bid. Kellner is 54 years old and he is currently the 88th wealthiest man in the world based on the Forbes rich list. Abramovich and Ratcliffe sit in the 140th and 141st spots respectively.

The entrepreneur is a friend of Abramovich. He started out selling office supplies before starting an investment fund which he used to buy a stake in the Czech Republic’s biggest insurer. He then became a shareholder in the biggest consumer finance firm in China. His assets extend far beyond this.

Kellner has an executive box at Stamford Bridge and regularly attends matches. The press report the idea of partial ownership but Kellner may also wish to purchase the club outright.
