Why Chelsea fans must keep faith in Callum Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been the target of criticism from some Chelsea fans for some disappointing performances this season. Despite his poor form, Chelsea fans must keep faith in the 19-year-old.

Lampard has sparingly used Hudson-Odoi this season, following his return from a serious achilles injury. He has started just three games in the Premier League this season. Some fans were not happy with his performance in the most recent of those starts against Southampton.

The young Englishman burst onto the scene last season under Maurizio Sarri and put in some excellent performances for the club. He was a key part of the hugely successful Europa League campaign, before being ruled out for several months with a ruptured achilles.

Since his return, things have not been quite the same for CHO. The expectations have been high, and he has admittedly looked slightly off the pace. However, fans must keep faith in such a young talent. Returning from such a serious injury takes time, and it could be a while before the winger is back to his best.

Lampard substituted the youngster on with 20 minutes to go against Arsenal on Sunday, and he looked more like himself. Some dangerous dribbles and crosses will have encouraged Chelsea fans, and will hopefully be the start of a turnaround for Hudson-Odoi.

Criticising such a young player on social media could seriously impact his confidence. It is vital that Blues fans remain patient, and keep the faith that he will get back to his scintillating best in due course.
