Ziyech hails two Chelsea teammates who kept blocking Manchester City's passing lanes

Hakim Ziyech highlighted the important role of midfield duo Jorginho and N’Golo Kante in Chelsea’s 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Thanks to his decisive goal, the 28-year-old was named the player of the match in the game.

But the win was certainly down to a collective effort from the whole team and there are plenty of other Chelsea players were outstanding in the game.

In his post-match interview, Ziyech singled out the reliable midfield duo for praise.

“Yeah, especially those two, you could see how many lines they closed, interrupting the ball,” the Morocco international told Chelsea TV about Jorginho and Kante’s performances in midfield.

“For attackers like me and Timo, it’s great to have them behind us.”

Ziyech also spoke about his partnership with Werner and how his knowing the Germany international’s characteristic led to the winning goal.

“I always know he [Werner] likes to run into space,” he explained.

“For me, it was just about running with him, and he delivered a good ball and for me, it was easy to put the ball in the goal.

“I think it was a good goal.”

The Blues will face either Leicester City or Southampton — who will play their semi-final tie on Sunday — in the final round on May 15.
