'Big mistake', 'Don't understand': Some Chelsea fans question tactical decision made v West Ham

Chelsea suffered a crushing defeat away to West Ham today – and some Blues fans on Twitter agree a tactical error was made at the London Stadium involving Hakim Ziyech.

Thomas Tuchel’s side suffered a 3-2 loss in the Premier League, which means they’ve dropped down from top to third in the table.

Thiago Silva and Mason Mount were both on the scoresheet for the visitors. However, West Ham equalised on two separate occasions through Manuel Lanzini and Jarrod Bowen before Arthur Masuaku scored a late winner.

In fairness, there were some individual errors that cost the team three points today. The squad will need to regroup quickly if they want to stick in the title conversation alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.

Chelsea fans spot bad tactical decision

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are convinced that the decision to withdraw left-footed attacker Ziyech from the pitch against West Ham was a bad one.

Ziyech, who assisted Mount’s goal, was substituted off in the 64th minute after a fairly bright performance.

However, plenty of Blues fans on Twitter believe Tuchel’s decision to take him off was costly.

German manager Tuchel has more than enough credit in the bank to afford some errors in judgements, though, because he’s been spectacular at Stamford Bridge in 2021. In addition, it was up to the Chelsea substitutes entering the action in the second period to make a difference against West Ham, something which never materialised.

Ziyech is definitely on the right track with his positive contributions lately, scoring three goals and making four assists so far this season in all competitions. It looks like he’s fully over a previous injury problem, too.

Here are some Blues fans discussing the 28-year-old’s substitution:
