Carney Chukwuemeka certainly did himself no harm with his individual Chelsea performance tonight at Old Trafford.
Chelsea did suffer yet another Premier League defeat this season, losing 4-1 on Thursday night away to rivals Manchester United
Casemiro and Anthony Martial scored first-half goals for hosts United. In addition, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford netted in the second period. Incidentally, Joao Felix netted a late consolation for the visitors.
It was yet another miserable night for the travelling support as the team crumbled after wasting several chances to score.
However, Blues caretaker manager Frank Lampard went bold by naming an extremely young starting line-up to give fans a glimpse into the future.
Chukwuemeka a rare positive
Carney Chukwuemeka, who’s just 19, was promoted to the starting line-up for this week’s trip to Manchester.
The Chelsea youngster caught the eye in just his 13th senior appearance for the club during their penultimate game of the season.
He looked very comfortable on the ball in the centre of the park and fitted nicely alongside Enzo Fernandez.
The teenage midfielder has certainly not been given enough minutes during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, and tonight was proof of that.

The Evening Standard recently claimed that incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is already a big fan of Chukwuemeka. Let’s hope he was tuned in tonight to see more.
