‘Deserves a start’: Some Chelsea fans urge Tuchel to play 23-year-old v Juventus
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are preparing to host Juventus on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge – and some Blues fans on Twitter are urging their manager to start Christian Pulisic.
Chelsea know they will seal automatic qualification to the Champions League last-16 by avoiding defeat tomorrow at Stamford Bridge. However, they’ll be seeking a win as top spot in the group is still up for grabs, and they’ll want to avenge September’s defeat to Juventus.
The Blues are unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions since a loss to Italian side Juventus, including the weekend’s impressive 3-0 away victory at Leicester City in the Premier League.
Pulisic, 23, came off the bench in the Leicester fixture to poke home the third goal from inside the penalty box.
The American attacker has missed a large chunk of the season with an ankle problem, but made a return before the international break.
He’s now scored two goals in five club appearances this season, as well as netting for his country in the break against rivals Mexico.
Chelsea fans desperate for Pulisic start
A selection of Blues supporters on social media are very keen to see Pulisic in the starting line-up in the club’s next European tie.
It would be his first Chelsea start since August if Tuchel opts to promote him to the XI.
The quick forward played in a more central role when entering the pitch against Leicester, but can play in a wide role or in behind, too.
He said after the Leicester win that he’s ready to “start his season”.
Here are some Chelsea fans that seem to agree:
