Some Chelsea fans make Loftus-Cheek claim ahead of Juventus

‘Give him a shot’: Some Chelsea fans urge Tuchel to give player second start of the season v Juventus

Chelsea face a potentially tough trip to Italy tomorrow night to face Juventus – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have claimed they want to see Ruben Loftus-Cheek get the chance to start in the European tie.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are preparing ahead of the Champions League group stage match away to Juventus on Wednesday evening.

It’s been confirmed the Blues are without first-team players Reece James, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante for the midweek fixture.

Chelsea’s 1-0 loss at home to Manchester City at the weekend was their first defeat of the season, which is why a big response is needed from the group.

The London club beat Zenit St Petersburg 1-0 in the opening Champions League group match, so can take a giant step forward with a win on the road in Italy.

With Kante absent, along with versatile star Mount, Chelsea’s options in the centre of the park are somewhat restricted.

If Tuchel reverts to a 3-4-3 system, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho may be the frontrunners to start. However, the manager is surely wary of burning out players with regular fixtures.

In contrast, Loftus-Cheek has started just once in his three appearances this season. Also, Saul Niguez is another central midfielder that is a fresh pair of legs available for selection against Juventus.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media say Loftus-Cheek should be in tomorrow’s XI.

The 25-year-old Englishman has looked extremely positive in his displays so far this season, as he attempts to make a memorable comeback at Stamford Bridge after a difficult few years.

It would be a massive step, though, to chuck him into a fixture of this magnitude.

Juventus have made an underwhelming start to the season as they cope with the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, but they’ve got real European pedigree.

Here are some Chelsea fans discussing Loftus-Cheek:
