'Has been saving us', 'Crucial': Some Chelsea fans hail their player's display in 2-2 Liverpool draw

Chelsea came from behind to earn a point in a memorable 2-2 draw against Liverpool today – and some Blues fans on Twitter were left full of praise for Edouard Mendy after his display.

The Blues ended up drawing on Sunday at Stamford Bridge in a Premier League classic against Liverpool.

Despite some excellent football from Thomas Tuchel’s side early on, they had a two-goal deficit just 26 minutes in.

First of all, Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the visitors when he capitalised on a rare mistake at the back from Trevoh Chalobah. Afterwards, Mohamed Salah showed why he’s considered one of the world’s very best players by scoring from inside the box.

Chelsea did level before the interval, though.

Mateo Kovacic scored a stunning volley that went in off the post before Christian Pulisic equalised during stoppage time of the first half.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Tuchel can be immensely proud with some of the football his team played, but it was yet another dent in the Premier League title race. It leaves them a sizeable 10 points behind leaders Manchester City with 17 games remaining.

Chelsea fans applaud their GK Mendy

A selection of Blues supporters on social media think Mendy was “crucial” for them at the weekend.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper couldn’t do much about the goals he conceded, but stepped up for his team on several occasions with some diving saves. For instance, he showed his athleticism to parry out a long-range effort from Mohamed Salah in the second half.

He’s now set to join up with his country Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations, so the spotlight will be on understudy Kepa Arrizabalaga to see how he can step into the XI.
