'I would start': Some Chelsea fans want 22-year-old recalled by Tuchel vs Wolves tomorrow
Chelsea are scheduled to play away at Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow in the Premier League – and some Blues fans on Twitter are suggesting that versatile youngster Trevoh Chalobah comes into the team as a midfielder.
Third-placed Chelsea travel to Wolves on Sunday afternoon off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw with Everton on Thursday.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have had some mixed injury news in the build-up to the Wolves contest.
First of all, Blues manager Tuchel has said that both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jorginho are injury doubts going into tomorrow. They partnered each other as the midfield pivot on Thursday, but Tuchel may need to find a fresh solution without them.
N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, who have both spent time on the sidelines with injuries recently, are available against Wolves. However, to throw both of them back into the side as the central midfield partnership screams of a great risk. Unfortunately, neither of the senior duo have had any minutes in their legs since returning from injury.
Chelsea fans come up with a solution
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe Chalobah can solve an issue in the centre of the park against Wolves.
The 22-year-old’s had his own injury problems recently, missing three games in a row with a hamstring issue. However, he marked his return against Everton with a cameo from the bench.
He’s one of several academy graduates at Stamford Bridge and he’s made a superb first-team breakthrough this season under Tuchel’s guidance.
Some Blues fans suggest the English talent can drop into the midfield against Wolves, even if the bulk of his success has been shining as a centre-half in the back three.
Chalobah has very few problems slotting into midfield positions and using him there could avoid risking both Kante and Kovacic from the start. Of course, there is still a chance there is positive news on Jorginho and Loftus-Cheek tomorrow.
