'Looks like he is leaving': Some Chelsea fans now feeling very worried after hearing their player's latest comments

A large section of Chelsea supporters believe Cesar Azpilicueta may have just given away the status of his future at the club.

In an interview with the Blues’ in-house media, the defender discussed the state of his current contract situation.

The 32-year-old’s glorious Stamford Bridge tenure has entered into its final sixth months, with foreign teams able to negotiate terms of his transfer abroad from now until the month’s conclusion.

What has Azpilicueta said?

Barcelona have been seriously sniffing around the Spain international, as they sense an opportunity to sign a quality individual on a free.

Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in the man lovingly nicknamed ‘Dave’ by followers of Thomas Tuchel’s team.

“I cannot say anything more than that I am really committed and have a lot of things ahead in the coming months and hopefully we can have a very good season,” explained Azpilicueta.

From the outside, this probably looks like nothing more than a player promising to stay loyal to his employers.

But for Chelsea fans, the fact their captain hasn’t verbally announced he will continue to fight for the badge is a worrying prospect.

Here’s how they reacted to the skipper’s statement on Twitter:

A true Chelsea great

Of course, few would begrudge Azpilicueta for calling time on what’s been an almost incomparable Chelsea career.

Bought from Marseille in 2012 for a mere £6.5m (BBC), the versatile full-back has featured nearly 500 times for the Blues.

He recently played match number 450, making him the seventh highest-appearance maker of all time for the Champions League holders.

His trophy cabinet is equally as illustrious.

Along with the ultimate European prize, two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Super Cup have ended up in Azpilicueta’s pocket.

All achieved with undeniable commitment and attitude.

You will be sorely missed if you decide to pack your bags, Azpi.
