Chelsea are receiving transfer links with Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier – and some Blues fans on Twitter have reacted extremely positively to the rumour.
The Guardian reports that Chelsea may turn their attention to securing a deal for the 31-year-old.
It is understood he would like a return to the Premier League and that Newcastle United are already chasing his signature this month.
With Ben Chilwell and Reece James currently sidelined through injury, versatile star Trippier could help fill the void for either.
He’s a right wing-back by trade with a great delivery, plus he’s shown for both Atletico and England’s national team that he can slot into the left position.
Trippier joined La Liga club Atletico for £20million from Tottenham in 2019, becoming a popular figure for the Spanish giants.
It looks like he’s ready for a return to England, though.

Chelsea fans give big thumbs up
Yes, Trippier is an ex-Spurs player that played 114 times for them.
However, he looks like he’d be a really shrewd addition at Stamford Bridge if Chelsea decide to ramp up interest and make an official approach to sign him.
It’s obvious manager Thomas Tuchel needs another signing in the full-back areas, especially because they’re positions so vital to his system.
Trippier’s know-how of playing a wing-back role makes him a superb target and the experienced defender could be everything they need in terms of someone that could make an immediate impact.
Sky Sports reports that Newcastle have already jumped the gun by making a bid in the January window, though.
