Chelsea supporters on social media marvelled at Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s recent training ground humiliation of Reece James.

Cobham’s cameras were on hand to capture Loftus-Cheek cooking up a storm, and boiling a few of his teammates in the process.

The midfielder first intercepted a pass in a small-sided game, then proceeded to leash a lethal left-footed strike past the helpless goalkeeper.

As the video rolls on, so does the 25-year-old’s confidence.

He receives a pass from Hakim Ziyech, with James in close quarters.

But Loftus-Cheek sent the defender on the first flight out of Heathrow thanks to a quick change of direction.

Another finish on his ‘weaker’ foot topped off the mini-masterclass from the man in form.

Blues fans almost felt a bit sorry that James had to be the victim of such a perfect footballing crime.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

Where have the goals gone?

Thomas Tuchel will possibly be looking to Loftus-Cheek for a similar ceremony on execution this Saturday when Chelsea face Brentford in the Premier League.

Goals have become something of a premium for the former England international.

He last scored for the Blues back in the 2019 Europa League semi-final against Frankfurt.

In fact, his only previous net-rippler came whilst on loan with Fulham last November.

Ruben reborn

If Loftus-Cheek can become more of a threat in the final third, the power Tuchel will be able to harness is frightening.

This does, however, depend on the position the German coach deploys his player in.

Permitted he stations Loftus-Cheek as part of Chelsea’s double pivot midfield duo, the need to maraud forward won’t be so necessary.

It is a role Loftus-Cheek has really grown into across the past few matches and possibly a permanent one for the future.
