‘Oozes class’, ‘Incredible’: Some fans amazed by Saturday display from their 21-year-old Chelsea loanee
Conor Gallagher was in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon – and some Crystal Palace fans on Twitter were left amazed by the performance of their Chelsea loanee.
Gallagher, 21, is a super young talent that Chelsea decided to send out on loan to rivals Palace this season.
The box-to-box midfielder’s form has helped him make a senior England debut this month, so a switch to Selhurst Park has turned out to be an inspired transfer for his development.
Palace ended up drawing 3-3 at the weekend away to Burnley in a Premier League thriller at Turf Moor.
Gallagher’s industrious work to try cover every blade of grass was noticeable, plus he provided one memorable piece of skill.
The Chelsea-owned youngster assisted the second of Christian Benteke’s goals with a stunning assist, controlling a high ball before creating space to lay up the perfect pass.
Palace fans adore Chelsea talent
A selection of Palace supporters on social media once again took huge joy from today’s individual display from Gallagher.
He’s now scored four goals and made three assists in 11 league appearances for them this season.
There is a real confidence flowing through his veins right now, something which isn’t a surprise considering Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel admitted this week he would’ve loved to play alongside someone like Gallagher. In addition, Ian Wright was singing his praises during the international break.
Here are some Palace fans discussing his contribution against Burnley:
Gallagher’s matching Blues stars
Gallagher has four goals already this season, which puts him level with Chelsea’s highest scorers.
Reece James, Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz (4) are the joint-top scorers in a Chelsea squad that are sharing the goals around.
Gallagher can make a really strong case for a first-team breakthrough at Stamford Bridge next season if he continues like this.
