Mason Mount has been named on the bench against Brentford for today’s Premier League fixture – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter are not happy with the decision.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has decided to put the 22-year-old with the substitutes for this evening’s 5:30pm kick-off away to London rivals Brentford.

The attacking midfielder is still trying to find his best form, scoring zero goals and providing one assist in eight appearances this season.

He also endured a quiet international break with England, too.

However, the academy graduate has so often been the go-to player at Stamford Bridge in the last couple of years, so it’s a brave call to go without him.

Here are some Chelsea fans questioning Mount’s absence:

Brentford a dangerous opponent for Chelsea

Tuchel’s side are strong favourites to win today, despite the fact they are the away side and are missing a few important players.

However, underestimate Brentford at your peril.

The London club have been a breath of fresh air so far this season after gaining promotion from the Championship last year.

Their home form is going to be vital all campaign, which is why they’ll be delighted they’ve already beaten Arsenal and drawn against Liverpool on their own patch this season.

If Chelsea start slowly today, it’s going to become a very difficult evening.

Lukaku will be desperate to score

Lukaku has looked the part almost immediately since he re-signed for Chelsea in the summer.

It won’t be a surprise though if he’s slightly underwhelmed with four goals in nine appearances so far this season.

The Belgium international is a goal machine that will be hoping to feast today, so Brentford defenders should watch out.

Pat Nevin recently claimed he thinks 28-year-old striker Lukaku is entering the peak years of his career.
