'Should have started': Some Chelsea fans baffled as £150k-a-week player is left on bench vs Brighton

Chelsea have announced their starting line-up for tonight’s game against Brighton – and some Blues fans on Twitter are baffled to see Kai Havertz named on the bench yet again.

The Blues are playing away at Brighton tonight in the Premier League, and know a win will see them jump up to second in the table.

For Havertz, he’s been named on the bench for the fourth game in a row. The £150,000-a-week attacker is enduring a run out of the starting line-up, so will have to be patient waiting for his opportunity.

Chelsea fans confused

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are bewildered about Havertz’s omission again.

The 22-year-old German can’t seem to force his way into Tuchel’s best XI at a time where the frontline looks fairly weak.

His contribution of five goals and three assists in 24 appearances this campaign is a little underwhelming for someone with his talent.

He’s fondly renowned for scoring the winner in last season’s Champions League final, but he’ll want to achieve more than just that legacy moment during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Romelu Lukaku’s getting a run in the starting line-up as the lone centre-forward, which means others have to be patient.

Here are some Chelsea fans discussing Havertz:

Another draw tonight?

Hopefully, tonight’s game doesn’t follow recent history.

Chelsea have recorded three draws in their previous four meetings against Brighton, which highlights what a difficult opponent they can be.

Tuchel has dropped four points from his two league meetings against Graham Potter’s Brighton, and it’s a common theme in both managers that their full-backs fly forward.

If Chelsea drop points tonight, the prospect of being sucked into the top four battle becomes more real.
