Some Chelsea fans amazed by ‘immense’ defender in 1-1 Liverpool draw

Chelsea secured a valuable point in their 1-1 draw away to Liverpool on Saturday evening – and some Blues fans on Twitter were left raving about the performance of their star Andreas Christensen.

The Blues go into the international break unbeaten after recording a well deserved draw at Anfield in the Premier League fixture against rivals Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were the much stronger during the opening 45 minutes as they showed why they are the reigning champions of Europe.

Kai Havertz’s flicked header in the 22nd minute put visitors Chelsea ahead and they went on to waste a couple of golden chances afterwards.

However, the game was turned on its head on the stroke of half time.

Reece James was shown a red card after the ball struck his arm on the goal-line, with the referee opting to send him off. It was a double blow for the Blues with Mohamed Salah scoring from the resulting spot-kick.

Chelsea showed tremendous character, though, during the second half to withstand the Liverpool pressure. They even had a couple of decent counter-attacking chances on the break.

Andreas Christensen gets the recognition he deserves

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media picked out Christensen as their star performer today.

The entire team rolled their sleeves up in the second period, especially the defenders.

Christensen, 25, has become such a vital player during the Tuchel era.

The Danish centre-half was gigantic at the back, which was especially impressive given he moved over from the middle to the right of the back-three.

Here are some Blues fans discussing Christensen:
