Some Chelsea fans excited as Tuchel 'finally' deploys player in his natural position vs Liverpool
Thomas Tuchel has left Romelu Lukaku out of Chelsea’s squad to face Liverpool on Sunday as some Chelsea fans were pleased by the manager’s decision on Christian Pulisic.
As earlier reports suggested, Tuchel has made a bold decision to drop Lukaku out of the team despite the striker’s fine goalscoring form.
Havertz’s playing as a number nine in Lukaku’s absence is hardly a surprise as well.
In midfield, Tuchel opted for N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic pairing as Jorginho starts the game from the bench.
The German also named two academy stars; Lewis Hall and Harvey Vale among the substitutes.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Both Hall and Vale naturally play in midfield but are also quite versatile to play in other positions. Vale, in particular, has previously impressed in an attacking role under Tuchel.
Chelsea’s starting line-up vs Liverpool:
Mendy
Chalobah – Silva – Rudiger
Azpilicueta – Kante – Kovacic – Alonso
Mount – Havertz – Pulisic
Subs: Arrizabalaga, Sarr, Hall, Jorginho, Saul. Barkley, Hudson-Odoi, Vale, Ziyech.
Pulisic starts as left winger for Chelsea
Tuchel’s Lukaku decision has understandably attracted most attention, but some Chelsea fans also seem to be excited by the manager’s using Pulisic in his favourite left winger position again.
The American has often had to play out of position, largely due to Chelsea’s injury and Covid-19 problems, including as a centre-forward and a right wing-back.
It is safe to say that some Chelsea fans on social media expect Pulisic to make an impact on the left flank against Liverpool.
