Some Chelsea fans gutted Ben Chilwell is not starting against Liverpool

Chelsea have released their line-up for today’s Premier League clash against Liverpool – and some Blues fans on Twitter are gutted that Ben Chilwell is once again named on the bench.

The Blues have announced Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI for Saturday’s trip to Liverpool for a league encounter. There is just one change from the previous game as N’Golo Kante replaces Mateo Kovacic.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are not too happy that Chilwell is on the substitute bench.

The 24-year-old left-back misses out again to teammate Marcos Alonso, who’s started the campaign impressively.

England internatonal Chilwell hasn’t played a minute of the club’s opening three matches, so will have to hope for an appearance off the bench today.

Unfortunately, the competition for places is so tough this year, so the manager is likely to be criticised whoever he picks.

Here are some Chelsea fans discussing the Chilwell decision:

Chelsea can send out early statement with Anfield result

If Chelsea win on Merseyside this evening, it will send out a strong message that this team has the capability to compete for the league title.

Mason Mount’s goal secured the Blues a 1-0 victory in March during their last visit to Anfield, but the difference is this time Liverpool will have a full home crowd roaring them on.

There could be a strong case made to say this is the toughest away game of the season, so a positive result for Chelsea would be massive for confidence within the group.

They’ve shown they can turn it on against the elite teams, so Tuchel should have the full trust of supporters to set his team up correctly in a tactical sense.
