Chelsea have uploaded a training ground clip of their forward Timo Werner – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have been discussing a brilliant goal from him on his weaker foot.
Some Blues supporters have been talking about the 25-year-old’s weaker foot after watching a thunderous left-footed finish in a training video released by the club on Twitter.
Werner has scored 12 goals in 56 appearances for Chelsea since his £45million move to Stamford Bridge last summer, but none of them have been on his left. The statistics are taken from popular website Transfermarkt.
In contrast, the German attacker scored an impressive 95 goals in 159 appearance for ex-club RB Leipzig. It’s interesting to see that 17 of these were on his weaker left side.
Romelu Lukaku can help Timo Werner
Werner is someone that has received a lot of criticism during his opening year as a Chelsea player, despite the fact he’s provided some great moments.
He should be looking to receive great advice from new teammate Lukaku about blocking out the negative public noise.
Lukaku, 28, re-signed for Chelsea in the summer and has ironically taken Werner’s position in the XI. He’s now the complete centre-forward that has added another dimension to Thomas Tuchel’s side.
However, the Belgian has had to deal with plenty of criticism fired towards his style of play throughout his career.
Werner definitely has the attributes to offer plenty to this Blues XI, so needs to keep working in training and to be ready for minutes on the pitch. It’s been a struggle that he’s only started two of the club’s opening six games across all competitions.
