Chelsea’s Under-23s side recorded a thrilling win against Liverpool on Friday night – and some Blues fans on Twitter were left amazed by the display from their youngster Joe Haigh.
The Blues came from 3-1 down to beat rivals Liverpool 4-3 in the Premier League 2 fixture.
Lewis Hall’s 95th-minute winner earned Chelsea their first three points of the season after a difficult start to the campaign.
Andy Myers’ Under-23s team suffered a demoralising 6-1 defeat last time out, but they banished some demons with a memorable result last night.
Joe Haigh catches eye of Chelsea supporters
Haigh, 18, is a Blues teenager that impressed a selection of fans on social media yesterday.
The attacking midfielder was introduced to the action on the hour mark as a second-half substitute, which helped turn the momentum of the game.
He scored the equalising goal to make it 3-3 with a sublime finish through the goalkeeper’s legs. Also, he was involved in the build up for the late winner.
The English playmaker is still relatively new to the Under-23s scene, but is working his way up successfully through the academy.
It’s a slight re-build for Blues manager Myers this season after losing so many players in the summer. However, there are still a few diamonds like Haigh, George McEachran and Dion Rankine to keep an eye out for.
They will hope to be the new batch of players to follow in the footsteps of Mason Mount and Reece James.
Here are some Chelsea fans discussing Haigh after his performance:
