'Walks into our team': Some fans excited as their club reportedly want to sign 26-year-old Chelsea player
Everton are reportedly interested in a move for Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the closing stages of the January transfer window – and some Toffees fans on Twitter have responded to say they’d love to bring him to Goodison Park.
The Daily Mail reports that Merseyside club Everton are keen on a swoop for the 26-year-old before the window shuts next Monday.
It is understood Blues manager Thomas Tuchel may want to keep the midfielder at Stamford Bridge, though.
The report explains Everton, who are still yet to appoint a new manager following Rafael Benitez’s sacking, are actively looking to bring in a midfielder to strengthen their squad.
Intriguingly, Everton’s links to Loftus-Cheek come at a time when rumours are flying around about ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard potentially taking charge at Goodison Park.
Loftus-Cheek could thrive away from Chelsea
A selection of Everton supporters on social media are very keen about the idea of Loftus-Cheek joining them.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to hear the same kind of reaction from fans of most Premier League clubs if he were linked with them, as the box-to-box midfielder has a lot talent.
Unfortunately, the 10-time capped England international is struggling to nail down a spot at Stamford Bridge.
He’s played 20 Chelsea games across all competitions so far this season, but it looks he’s still someway off becoming a regular starter in Thomas Tuchel’s XI.
It could make sense for all parties if he moves on, so it’ll be interesting to see how any Everton speculation develops over the weekend.
