‘What's best for both’: Some Chelsea fans react after hearing transfer rumour about their 28-year-old

Hakim Ziyech reportedly wants a move away from Chelsea in January – and some Blues fans on Twitter agree that a move could make sense for all parties.

Football publication 90min reports that Ziyech is actively looking for a transfer exit from Stamford Bridge in the next window.

The 28-year-old reportedly wants to leave to chase more minutes elsewhere and Chelsea are open to the idea of him moving.

This comes on the same week that Bild report German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are interested in taking Ziyech on loan in the New Year.

Chelsea fans give thumbs up on Ziyech exit

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social believe that Ziyech leaving would make total sense.

The left-footed playmaker joined at the start of last season from Ajax, scoring 49 goals and making 81 assists in 165 appearances for the Dutch giants.

However, the winger has not been able to find the same kind of spark during his time in England. He made 10 goal contributions during his debut season with Chelsea last year, but hasn’t really been able to make himself a nailed-on starter. Similarly, it’s been a struggle for him during the 2021/22 campaign.

The Moroccan did score in a recent Champions League win against Malmo, so there are signs of what he offers Tuchel’s XI.

Some Chelsea fans feel he may get back to playing his best football elsewhere, though:

Could squad cope with sale?

If Chelsea offload Ziyech in January, is there enough depth to cope without him?

Chelsea are blessed with attackers such as Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz that can play behind frontman Romelu Lukaku.

Ziyech leaving would open the door for Chelsea academy prospect Harvey Vale, who’s featured around the first team without making a debut.

It’s great having a left-footed option available to the manager, which is a box that Vale ticks.
