Some Chelsea fans gutted that Inter Milan will reportedly sign full-back

'Why weren't we on that?': Some Chelsea fans annoyed as 27-year-old full-back will reportedly join Inter Milan

Inter Milan are reportedly set to sign full-back Robin Gosens from their Serie A rivals Atalanta – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter believe they’re missing a trick by not getting him.

Gosens, 27, is a highly-rated defender who’s on the verge of joining Italian giants Inter.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter have agreed to sign him on a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy for €25million (£21million).

It is understood personal terms are already agreed and the announcement of the transfer is imminent.

Gosens is an attack-minded wide man who impresses as a left wing-back for club side Atalanta. Also, he plays in that role or as a more traditional left-back for his country Germany on the international stage.

Unfortunately, he’s currently sidelined with a hamstring problem that’s seen him miss a large chunk of the season so far. He’s shown in recent years his true quality, though.

Chelsea fans frustrated

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media say Gosens is exactly the kind of player they should be targeting this month.

With Ben Chilwell’s inury ruling him out for the rest of the 2021/22 campaign, the Blues are being linked with some wing-back alternatives.

In fairness, Gosens is a quality operator that knows the wing-back position inside out and would’ve been a shrewd addition to the squad at Stamford Bridge. Unfortunately, Thomas Tuchel’s side weren’t linked with the Atalanta star who’s Milan bound.

Instead, Barcelona’s full-back Sergino Dest is someone who’s been linked with the Blues in January.

As it stands, they’ve got versatile defender Malang Sarr as someone who can provide competition for Marcos Alonso at left-back.
