Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Mateo Kovacic is unavailable to play against West Ham – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are worried about the injury news.

The Blues travel to London rivals West Ham on Saturday evening for a colossus Premier League match.

With the two teams only separated by goal difference, it’s a huge game for one of them to try cement a position in the Champions League spots.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the division standings with six games left, and really need the three points considering their extremely difficult run-in from now until the end of the season.

Aside from Kovacic, Tuchel has announced on Friday that he’s got a fully-fit squad for the weekend.

Tuchel confirmed in his press conference (Football London) that Kovacic is going to be unavailable for the trip to West Ham. He added that he’s predicting a possible return next weekend against Fulham, which would mean he’s absent from the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie against his former club Real Madrid.

Chelsea managed to beat Manchester City to reach an FA Cup final, but they were so flat in the 0-0 draw with Brighton, and they also lost 1-0 to Porto despite reaching the Champions League semi-final.

With Kovacic absent against West Ham, it looks like Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are in pole position to be the starting midfield pivot.

However, Kovacic does offer a different skillset with his ability to take the ball on the half-turn and drive at opponents.

Here are some Blues fans saying the Croatian midfielder will be a big loss against West Ham:
