Chelsea will still be without defender Thiago Silva for tomorrow’s game against Manchester United – and some of the club’s fans are gutted with the early team news.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed (official website) that the Brazilian centre-back is unavailable on Sunday.

It’s a crucial game in the Premier League this weekend, as Chelsea host rivals Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Fifth-placed Chelsea are currently six points behind second-placed Man United.

Silva, who picked up a thigh problem against Tottenham at the beginning of February, has missed three consecutive games already in the league.

The 36-year-old has watched from the sidelines though the team remain unbeaten under Tuchel, which included a brilliant 1-0 win away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.

Silva has been a superb signing on a free transfer this season and he’s added so much both on and off the pitch, but at his age it’s more likely injuries will occur.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were hopeful the centre-half would be back for a huge showdown with Manchester United.

Fortunately, there are plenty of centre-back options in the squad for the manager to pick from in his absence.

It looks like it will be either Kurt Zouma or Andreas Christensen to slot into the middle of a back three next to Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger.

Here are some Blues fans frustrated by the Silva update:
