Thomas Tuchel gave a positive update on the fitness of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen ahead of their clash with Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow, speaking in his press conference.
Christensen sat out the Blues last three fixtures with muscle problem, including last weekend’s FA Cup victory over Manchester City.
Tuchel did confirm that the Denmark international would be fit enough to feature when Chelsea host Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.
He said: “I expect Andreas to be back and available. He did a very good training session yesterday and I hope this will continue today.”
It’s been a brilliant second half of the campaign for Christensen, who was restored to action by Tuchel following Thiago Silva’s injury.
The Blues boss also informed reporters about Silva’s situation, having only recently recovered from his own injury absence.
“Thiago is a bit different,” Tuchel continued.
“Not because of injury but maybe because of an acute overload after his injury with the two games.
“He isn’t injured. We have to take care of his overload and see if it makes sense to start again.”
Silva started the cup win over City, but was replaced by Kurt Zouma so as not to put extra strain on his 36-year-old frame.
Chelsea some massive games before the end of the season and will need Christensen, Silva, plus every member of the squad fully available if they are to compete on all fronts.
