Report: Vital Chelsea player could return from injury just in time to face West Ham tomorrow
N’Golo Kante has reportedly overcome his ankle injury and could feature for Chelsea against West Ham United tomorrow.
This is according to South London News, who claim the France international will be available for selection on Saturday.
Kante picked up a knock in the 4-0 Champions League thrashing of Juventus last month, meaning he missed the two subsequent Premier League fixtures.
Count on Kante
Chelsea’s midfield looks mightily light without their miniature machine roaming the field, tackling and intercepting opponents without mercy.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Thomas Tuchel was forced to start the largely untried and untested duo of Saul Niguez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek away to Watford mid-week.
A combination that crumbled at the first hurdle, with Saul failing to make it past the interval.
Loftus-Cheek will likely keep his place for the upcoming London showdown, but who partners him is yet to be revealed.
Jorginho sat on the bench at Vicarage Road, having been a doubt for that particular fixture.
Permitted the Italian is back to full fitness, he should be reinstated to the line-up alongside Loftus-Cheek.
Approach with caution
Even if Kante has overcome his personal wounds, the probability of him coming straight back into the XI is slim.
Tuchel cannot afford to lose another key squad member, with fixtures coming at Chelsea thick and fast.
Especially as Mateo Kovacic and Ben Chilwell are long-term absentees, whilst Reece James was recently inducted to the medical room.
Romelu Lukaku has also only just recovered from an ankle problem that kept him out for a month.
The big Belgian is in line to face West Ham, an opponent he absolutely adores taking on.
